Free Seniors Bus Travel Initiative

The Free Seniors Bus Travel Initiative is fully funded by the City of Gold Coast and delivered in partnership with Surfside Buses and Translink.

It enables eligible Gold Coast Seniors to travel free on Surfside buses from 8.30am - 3.30pm, Monday to Friday (public holidays included).

Have your say on the Free Seniors Bus Travel Initiative by:

To be eligible for the Free Seniors Bus Travel Initiative, you must:
  • hold a Translink senior red go card;
  • be a Gold Coast resident; and
  • complete and return an application form (see the brochure on how to lodge your form).

    As a pensioner on a limited budget it is a great help to be able to use the local buses for free.

    The drivers are always so helpful and the buses are lovely to ride in.

    It's comforting to know that I don't always have to use the car for shopping as I do not like driving that much, as well as the cost factor

    So thank you for the service you provide.

    It would be nice to be able to have the weekends included as well...here's hoping

    I recently returned from an overseas holiday and, because, it had been a while since I saw my daughter and her son in Melbourne, I decided to take a short long weekend trip to visit them. Normally my partner would have driven me to Coolangatta airport, but he was called away unexpectedly to Tasmania to visit / support his best mate, who was extremely ill...another option was for me to get to the airport by public transport.
