Information Privacy

  • As part of the Active School Travel Program, in your first year your school is entitled to funding for one teacher release day to deliver the Active School Travel program each term.
    Available each term to assist an AST Committee member to go ‘offline’ for one day each term to plan Active School Travel initiatives based on the school travel plan and associated implementation plan, such as event organisation, rewards and recognition and marketing and communications.

    After the activites have taken place, please submit and invoice within two weeks or by the end of term. For the invoice please ensure:

    As part of the Active School Travel Program, in your first year your school is entitled to funding for one teacher release day to deliver the Active School Travel program each term.

    The invoice is addressed to City of Gold Coast specifying the schools name and purpose of funding.

    The invoice is to be up to the limit for each item ($460 Ex GST for teacher release funding).

    Please note your application is subject to approval by the City of Gold Coast and reimbursement will be made after the activities have taken place.

  • Each term your school can host a healthy breakfast on one of your active travel days to help promote and celebrate the fantastic efforts of students actively travelling. Funding up to $1000 is available to provide a healthy breakfast for students and Zero the Hero can make an appearance with his chaperone to meet and greet the students (up to 20 minutes long).

    After the activity has taken place, please submit and invoice within two weeks or by the end of term. For the invoice please ensure:
    • The invoice is addressed to City of Gold Coast specifying the schools name

  • Zero the Hero, the Active School Travel (AST) mascot, visits AST schools to educate students about walking safety. The Walk Safely Show is a fun and interactive musical show for the junior school, which focuses on safe behaviours for students walking to school. The show is suitable for all year levels however aimed at those students in Prep to Year 3. The show can be delivered as part of your regular assembly or at another time that suits.

    Please complete your booking request four weeks prior to the proposed date of your show.

    Once your booking has been

    Once your booking has been received, the Active School Travel team will be in contact to confirm your booking. One to two days prior to your show, the talent company, who delivers the show, will also contact your school to confirm their attendance and arrival details.
