Bold Vision Theme: A city shaped by clever design

by City Plan 2015, about 9 years ago

Working towards Bold Future headline target: By 2040, we have the most liveable, healthy, active and resource efficient major city in Australia.

QUESTION: How will we direct the city's development and provide the infrastructure to enhance our environment and lifestyles whilst promoting sustainable choices through coastal, urban and rural settings?

Proposed new planning scheme directions:

  • Sustainable communities
  • Housing
  • Infrastructure delivered to meet the needs of the growing community
  • High quality urban design, world-class image and diverse built forms

My biggest hope is that we don’t see anymore repetitive townhouse enclaves. There is hardly any individuality within the design and if often appears they have received a discount on 2 paint colours. Also, in the quest for sustainability why do I see dark tiled roofs on most of them?

    1. We need to really work on public transport. I know the transit is coming. This is badly needed. We probably need to work harder to get people out of their cars. i suggest putting up parking charges and considering road use pricing.2. We need to enhance the network of cycleways.3. We need to fight against urban sprawl. The high density areas are already ugly. Lets not ruin the hinterland too - no more Robina style ghettos.
