Gold Coast Water and Waste - Connections Policy and Procedure 2017

Consultation has concluded

The City of Gold Coast (City) is responsible for providing water, recycled water and sewerage services to customers across the Gold Coast.

The Connections Policy and Procedure presents the City of Gold Coast (the City) administrative, procedural and technical requirements for extensions, connections (including metering), disconnections and interference with the City’s water and sewerage infrastructure. This Policy and Procedure was previously titled Network Modifications, Extensions and Connections (NMEC) Policy Procedure.

The main objectives are to:

  • protect the health and safety of the community;
  • ensure water, sewerage and recycled water services support city growth;
  • inform customers of the City’s Network Connection Areas, and
  • inform customers of the Procedure for connecting to or disconnecting from the City’s water, sewerage and recycled water networks.

The following amendments have recently been made to the Connections Policy and Procedure:

  • (Title change) The document to be referred to as the Gold Coast Water and Waste Connections Policy.
  • Amendments to remove duplication within the document and related City documents.
  • Amendments to clarify and differentiate OPW and Non OPW processes and workflows.
  • Inclusion of additional technical information and references to other related documents (i.e. Metering Technical Specifications, Guidelines for working near water and sewer infrastructure, and As-constructed Data Capture Guidelines).
  • Inclusion of reference the new above ground and on lot metering requirements for water meters of sizes DN50 and greater.
  • Inclusion of information related to damage to the City’s infrastructure.
