Riesenweber Park upgrade

Project update: June 2026

Phase 2 community engagement is now open

Riesenweber Park is a popular community park, centrally located in Jacobs Well. The park offers a range of sport and recreational facilities, large open space areas, and a multipurpose community centre. Its size and features make it a key location for community activities and events.

To meet growing demand and improve the park experience, we need to upgrade several facilities that are nearing the end of their useful life.

Following community consultation in August 2025, we used your feedback to develop a draft concept design. As outlined in the community engagement report, the design aims to improve the park layout, with better connections, upgraded facilities and more opportunities for recreation and community use.

How your feedback shaped the design

During the previous consultation, we heard strong feedback about improving facilities, increasing recreation opportunities and maintaining the park’s character.

You said -- We did

  • Provide more seating, shade and places to gather: We included additional seating, shaded picnic areas and BBQ facilities throughout the park.
  • Provide more recreation and activities for all ages: We introduced upgraded sports facilities, outdoor fitness equipment, a pump track along with an enhanced playground and flexible open space to support activities for all ages and community use.
  • Improve the dog park and consider relocation: We identified the south-west corner of the park as a potential new location for the dog off-leash area and are seeking community feedback.
  • Improve parking and access: We reconfigured the existing car park and considered opportunities to improve connections to Bay Drive.
  • Retain the park’s open green space and natural character: We retained significant vegetation while improving accessibility and pathways across the park

What happens next

We are now seeking your feedback on the proposed upgrades to help shape the future of Riesenweber Park.

These include:

  • upgraded sports and recreation facilities
  • enhanced playground and outdoor fitness equipment
  • shaded picnic and barbecue facilities
  • improvements to accessibility and overall park layout
  • improved pathway connections
  • additional recreation opportunities, including asphalt pump track and flexible open space for community use.

Your feedback will help us refine the design and prioritise future improvements.

Have Your Say

Community consultation is open from Tuesday 30 June to Monday 20 July 2026.

A community pop-up information session will be held at Riesenweber Park on Saturday 11 July 2026, providing an opportunity for face-to-face engagement with the project team.

Review the draft concept design and complete the online survey to share your feedback.
