What is the Southport PDA?

Priority development areas (PDAs) are parcels of land identified under the Economic Development Act 2012 to deliver economic development for community purposes. The Southport PDA Development Scheme supports plans to revitalise Southport PDA as the Gold Coast’s Central Business District (CBD). The PDA status removes development barriers, increases investment opportunities, and helps economic development. The Southport PDA Development Scheme is the regulatory document which assists with planning, carrying out, promoting, coordinating, and controlling land development within the PDA.

What components of the Southport PDA Development Scheme will be part of the review?

The review of the Southport PDA Development Scheme includes:

    •  Land use plan - regulates development within the PDA
    •  Infrastructure plan - details the infrastructure needed to support the land use plan for the PDA
    •  Implementation strategy - describe strategies and mechanisms that will complement the land use plan and infrastructure plan to meet the Vision for the PDA.
