NaturallyGC

The NaturallyGC program is for people interested in connecting with, conserving, exploring and learning more about our city’s wonderful natural environment.

The program provides a range of environmentally based activities and workshops from guided bushwalks, kayaking, wildlife shows, tree planting, coastal education, citizen science, native gardening, nature photography, kids nature play and more.

You can also discover other city led environment initiatives, connect with community groups working to restore and conserve our natural areas, discover our best natural area parks to visit and check out ideas to keep the kids busy, active and exploring our natural environment.

The program aims to;

  • connecting the community with nature and our Gold Coast natural areas
  • providing a range of free and low cost nature based workshops and activities for the community
  • providing beneficial, environmental education opportunities to the community
  • encouraging an active and healthy lifestyle
  • encouraging and promoting sustainable, nature based recreation opportunities
  • encourage, promote and support on-ground conservation action
  • raising awareness of the environmental values of the Gold Coast
  • promote and support city wide conservation initiatives

  • Schuster Park Koala Habitat Restoration Project

    The City has been awarded an Australian Government 20 Million Trees Program grant to further enhance and expand koala habitat at Schuster Park, Tallebudgera.

    The 20 Million Trees Program aims to plant 20 million trees by 2020, to re-establish green corridors and urban forests.

    The project will commence early in 2018 and aims to increase, restore and connect koala habitat at the park through the planting of 20,000 koala food and habitat trees, community engagement and assisted restoration to control threats from invasive weeds.

  • Australia's Largest Green Army Planting Project

    The City of Gold Coast partnered with Conservation Volunteers Australia and the federal government Green Army program to undertake a large planting project along Mudgeeraba Creek. The project included the planting of 12,000 native trees within Robina City Parklands and undertaking environmental weed control works across 3 hectares of land.
