The Southport Priority Development Area (PDA) Development Scheme commenced in 2014 after business and community consultation.

The City of Gold Coast (the City) is committed to achieving the Vision of the Southport PDA being a world-class centre for employment, community services, commerce and retail, offering a range of housing options within a highly desirable lifestyle to support delivery of Southport as the Gold Coast CBD.

We are reviewing the Southport PDA Development Scheme to ensure it remains current and we seeking your feedback to inform this review. 

  • What attracts you to the Gold Coast CBD?
  • What are the best ways to improve the CBD?
  • What areas should we focus on to make Southport PDA a world-class centre?

  • Broadwater Parklands improvements

    The Southport PDA is also home to Broadwater Parklands, a world-class community and cultural parkland and event space, loved by Gold Coast residents and tourists alike.

  • Chinatown

    The activation of Chinatown, including increased opportunities for outdoor dining and events, improved lighting, CCTV, new street trees and garden planting and under-ground water, sewer and gas facilities to enable establishment of new restaurants and cafes.

  • Gold Coast Commonwealth Games ™ facilities

    Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, a world-class swimming and aquatic venue located on Southport's stunning Broadwater Parklands,

  • Events

    The Southport PDA hosts a number of world-class events including the Gold Coast Marathon, the Gold Coast Triathlon - Luke Harrop Memorial, Christmas Carols, music festivals and family fun days.

  • Gold Coast Light Rail connectivity

    Including four stations servicing the CBD (Broadwater Parklands, Southport South, Southport and Nerang Street) that connect to the wider transport network.
